Krazy Kelly Kids

July 2006

Happy Birthday to my Baby Girl!! I can't believe Miss Kassidy Joan is 2 years old. Wow! It's amazing to think how much she has changed in a year, and mind boggling to think about the changes in 2 years.

Aside from the daily "toddler moments" when she doesn't get another pouch of fruit snacks or another episode of Dora, she is a fun, sweet kid. Unlike the horror stories I heard about terrible two's, Kassidy is a great sleeper and we have very little trouble getting her down at night. She's a good eater, and there is rarely something she won't eat. When needed she can be tempted with a popsicle, and she'll eat just about anything...even the veggies.

Her vocabulary is massive, and growing daily. Some of my favorite words are Magenta (jenta)Binoculars (knock-lers), and Baby Brother (beebee brudder). There are many many more, but I don't have time to comprise a Kassidy Kelly Dictionary at this time. She does use the word "too" in context. For example, I may be eating some cheese. Kassidy first asks, "Baby, too?" Then she'll ask, "Baby cheese, too?" Then she'll ask "Baby cheese, too? Please, Mummy?" So I ask, "Do you want some cheese, too?" and she shakes her head yes and says, "Baby too." Amazing!! At least to me it is.

Kassidy's new favorite toy is her Mr. Potato Head Bucket of Parts. This was a gift from her Godmother, Katie, and it's 2 big potato bodies and one little baby potato body in a big plastic bucket with a bunch of parts. She is in love with this set, and can get a whole potato put together nearly by herself. Of course, most times she does like to put the lips in the eye hole or all 6 arms in one potato, but she still gets it. She's just playing Frankenstein.

We are so lucky to have such a great kid! She's fun, polite, smart and considerate...already. I'm really looking forward to the next year when I can have tea parties and conversations with my daughter. Wow, a conversation with her, with real words, not just expressive jargon...now that is going to be awesome!

Thanks for stopping by. Come back soon!!!

*Quick Note: I would like to let everyone know that the picture of Kassidy and Liam currently in the left column is NOT staged, or posed (see July album if it's not there). Neither are any of the other pictures that I have with Kassidy sitting holding Liam. This is actually how she sits with him. I'm glad Kassidy loves her brother. I was worried, but she has adjusted so well and loves him so much. We are so lucky to have two great kids!!

I've come up with a new, better way to get Kassidy to smile for pictures. When she says "Cheese" she normally says it and either puckers up her lips, or says it without smiling. Now I ask her to say "Happy". The 'eeee' sound is at the end, so she can draw it out, and it's an emotion she understands, so she not only says "happy" but acts happy too. Seems to be working pretty well, as you will probably notice from the latest cheesy grin pictures...we'll see how long it lasts.

I'm pretty sure we've gotten the beginnings of full fledged smiles from Liam. I think we're gonna have trouble with this one, just like his sister. When I say "trouble" I mean, he's gonna flash that smile and get away with murder. I can already tell that with those huge brown eyes and a dimple he's gonna be a killer...

Knock on wood...Liam has been an amazingly calm and laid back kid so far. We're already 5.5 weeks in, and he has yet to get really fussy or cranky. I'm pretty sure he's about to enter his 6 week growth spurt because of the amount he's been eating at night. Hopefully that won't upset the proverbial apple cart. I've got a good feeling though, that he's going to stay laid back and pleasant. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

Hey, Howdy, Hey...okay, I've watched way to much Toy Story 2...Anyway, just a quick FYI, seems like when we add a Baby Kelly to the gang, our computer goes Kaput. Thus is the case, and why I haven't posted a 1 month pic of Liam yet. We just got our computer back from the amazing John Reider (Thank You, John!!) and I should have my camera software loaded again soon.

    Happy 4th of July all!!!
