Krazy Kelly Kids

June 2006

Free time now, while mostly non-existent, is not dedicated to blogging, and since life at the moment is pretty boring there's not much to say.

Kassidy is almost 2 years old!!! I can't hardly believe/stand it. It amazes me every day how big, smart, animated, funny, and cute she is. Today, we had Dan (Dah), Becky (Beh-Key) and new baby Josh over for a visit. I won't put a "Kassidy Pronunciation" in for "Josh" because she says it perfectly. Anyway, she and Dan were playing and out of no where she comes into the living bear crawling on her hands and feet (not hands and knees) barking like a dog. This is a first, but I have to say very amusing. Today's new words were "Penny" and "Josh" but that was before 11:30am, so the day's not done yet...

Liam is well. I believe, he's found his lungs, and has come to use them at around....11:45pm. Gotta love that newborn cry...right?? He's been sleeping pretty well, once he does get to sleep, so I can't complain to much. The lack of sleep seems to be a little easier to handle this time around...however, ask me that in a month and a half and see what I say, if I'm awake to answer!!!

Sorry for the delay in an update!! Things get a little crazy with 2 little ones, and time to blog just isn't on the agenda. We went in on Friday, and saw our regular Dr. (We saw a different Dr. on Wed.) Anyway, she comes in, looks at it, picks the crusty part off and says, "Okay, he's good as new. Put some Neosporin on it and it'll be fine." GRRRRRRRRR. So I was worried out of my mind that my baby's finger is going to shrivel up and fall off, and it was nothing major. Thank God, though, I know it could have been much worse, it's just frustrating when you have to see more than one Dr., and they all have a different opinion.

In other news, since I missed the One Week picture for Liam, I posted a Two Week. I'll resume normal monthly pictures on the 30th of every month for him now.

Kassidy is still a genius. She is talking more and more, and seems to add at least one word to her vocabulary daily. Today was Feather and Peace. She's started saying her ABC's if you say them with her. So, yesterday we were watching Sesame Street, and they were doing the alphabet in sign language. Say the Letter, Sign the Letter...repeat. Because of the signing there was a pause after the letter was spoken by the narrator, and this gave Kassidy a chance to repeat the letters. She did the whole thing, leaving out G and L as usual, and replacing the letter W for something that sounds shockingly like "Bush". Her dad is so proud!!

Well, things were going along just great...I knew it couldn't last. On Tuesday I noticed that Liam had some swelling on the tip of his right ring finger, and what looked like a splinter just to the side of his finger nail. It didn't seem to bother him until I started messing with it. So, I left it alone, and decided to call the Ped. the next day if it didn't look better. Well, it didn't look better Wed. so I called and they told me not to wait until our Friday appt. to come in that night. When the Dr. finally saw us, we were the last of the day, he first said, "I've never seen this on a finger before" reassuring, and then told me that he has a Staph Infection, and there's no real way to figure out how he got it since Staph Bacteria is just about everywhere all the time!!! UG!!!!!!!!!!!! He said that if it were me he'd let it go for about a week before starting any treatment, but since Liam's only 9 FREAKING DAYS OLD if it doesn't look better by Friday he'd have to admit him. He also said to call him everyday to give him a update on the condition of the finger.

I've been putting Perioxide on it as advised, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I called to let them know, and we go back to the Dr. tomorrow morning. Luckily, he's still eating well, no fever, sleeping as much a a new born sleeps, and he's gained back his birth weight +2oz.

When I called the Dr. today, I told them it wasn't looking any better or worse, and they want to see us in the morning. Keep your fingers crossed that it'll be a quick and easy fix, and our Little Man isn't going to make a trip to the hospital!!! Thanks!!!

Happy Day, the photo uploader is fixed. Yippy!!

So, it's been a week, and it's been...pretty good. Liam is an amazing baby. He is very mellow, only cries or fusses when he's hungry, and can usually be calmed for a short time just by being held. He is a very good eater, and while he's still on Baby Sleep Time, he's pretty good about waking up every 2 hours at night. I've been bringing him into bed though, because he tends to wake after 1 hour in his bassinet.

Kassidy is doing well. She is showing her true Toddler Colors though, and is getting increasingly frustrated with the language barrier. As are Bill and I. It's especially testy when we know what she wants but tell her she can't have it. She is very good with Liam though, and has only bitten him once. It was an accident. She saw me biting his nails and tried to do the same. He lived, and so did all of his digits.

The sleepless haze is starting to effect my train of thought, so I'll be signing off. Enjoy the new pics, and look out for many MANY more!! Take Care!

Man, what a crazy 2 days!! Here's what happened Tuesday: Bill and I arrived at L&D for our scheduled induction in the morning. We did all our paperwork, and waited for them to call us back to our room. I got all hooked up, and they started my pitocin at 7:30. The nurse checked me and let me know I was 4cm and 75% effaced, and they would be breaking my water soon. At 8:15 the Resident Dr. came in and broke my water. My contractions started coming extremely close together, and my Chiropractor came in to adjust my back at 8:45 before I got my Epidural. (I have a minor scoliosis, and the epi. didn't take on the left side with Kassidy!!) At 9:15 I let the nurse know I was ready for the Epi. whenever they could. From about 9:50-10:25 my contractions got to be about 30-45 seconds apart, and I thought I was going to die, when they finally came in for my epi at 10:30. They got my drip going, and I was in heaven!!! The nurse checked me around 10:45 and said I was fully dialated with just a little cervical lip on one side. The Res. Dr. came in at 11 and said the lip was gone, but we were going to wait about an hour to let Liam's head come down on it's own. Around 11:45 I was getting kind of bored, since the TV stunk and things were going so well, when the nurse came in and said let's try to push. So, they got the bed ready, everyone got into position, and I pushed once. The nurse said, "Okay, stop!" She went and got the Res. Dr. The Res. Dr. came in and said, "Okay, on your next contraction we're gonna push." So I pushed and she said, "Okay, stop! Call Dr. Peterson and tell her we're gonna have a baby." So they called my Dr. and she came in, told me to push. So I pushed about 3 times, and he was born!!! I am so amazed how effortless it was. If it hadn't been for the 30ish minutes of strong contractions it would have been perfect.

Liam was born at 12:30pm. He weighed 7lbs 2oz, and was 19.5in. with 8/9 APGARS.

Bill was great again, although he still couldn't watch. Thankfully my mom and Auntie Rose were there to hold legs and cheer!!! And, doubly thankful that Grandma Kelly and Uncle Chucky were at home wrangling Kassidy, so we didn't have to worry about her, except that she may be having to much fun!!!

Liam nursed like a champ, and we only stayed in the hospital one night. There was just no medical reason to stay, and I missed Kassidy way to much.

Things are going reall well. Kassidy and Liam are both asleep right now!! I better mark it down, because who knows how often this will happen???

He's great, I'm great, we're all GREAT!!! And the adventure continues!!!
