There are things we do regularly that we hope will have a positive outcome, but secretly we know they probably won't. IE: buying scratchy lottery tickets, waiting to buy gas even though you're nearly at "E" and it's $2.12 because you think it might go down again, watch Wheel of Fortune to see if your Spin ID shows up and you can FINALLY take that great trip you've been dreaming of...you catch my drift.
One of my "Things" is to check all the Cabbage Patch Kids when out and about in the world of retail. Who knows, maybe one day I'll find a Kassidy with a "K". Those little butter balls have pretty interesting names, and you never know...maybe one day I'll get lucky. Well...I GOT LUCKY!!!
Now some of you may be thinking, "This Lady is crazy!! Who gets so excited about a stupid doll with the same name as her kid?" A lady who has a kid with nothing personalized unless it's special ordered...that's who! Anyway, we were at Target today, and after we got what we needed, Kassidy and I were browsing through the toys. I wasn't even going to go down the doll aisle, but it seemed to call to me. After glancing quickly at the boxes at eye level I nearly walked away, but I took a quick look at the top shelf and there she was right in the middle!! I nearly fainted...well not really, but it adds to the drama and excitement. I had the box in my cart, and I thought, "Well if I found it this time maybe I'll find it again," so, reluctantly, I put it back. I needed a second opinion. I called my mom, and she wasn't available. So, I called Rose, and she said, "You better buy that doll. You are never going to find one again." She was right, so I bought it!!!
I'm planning on keeping it until Kassidy's 5th birthday. I know it's a long time away, but right now, toys are just things, and unless you're a Mint Green Hippo, you rank low on the Plaything Food Chain. I can remember getting my first CPK on my 6th birthday. I loved that doll so much, and it's name wasn't Tiffany and it didn't look anything like me. But I knew it was special. I can only imagine how awesome it is going to be for Kassidy to get a new doll on her 5th birthday with Blonde hair, Blue eyes and who's name is Kassidy.
Maybe I didn't win my scratchy ticket, maybe I didn't buy gas until it was $2.39, maybe I didn't win that super trip with my Spin ID, but I did hit the Lottery, and I can't wait until July 19, 2009 to cash in that winner!!!Comments:Add a comment:

HOORAY, YIPPY & HALLELUJIA!!! We got new batteries for the camera!!! I was going through serious picture withdrawl. Especially since Kassidy is doing more cute stuff daily. Man, I need to catch up. As you will see in more than one picture, Kassidy now says "Cheeeese" when we ask her to, or any time she sees a camera. It makes for some pretty great shots. This kid is to funny!!!
I'm not sure what's in the previous updates, but if I haven't told you already, Kassidy happily points to all parts of her face, her belly button and toes when asked. She has mastered a Dog, Cow and Lion sound. I'm not sure why these three, but the Lion is our favorite!! Kassidy and I started a Mommies & Munchkins gymnastics class. She is the youngest one in it, but our friend down the street is in it too with her son, Dan, who just turned 2. We really like it. It is moderatly structured with about 10 minutes of stretching and a silly dance at the beginning then 20 minutes of free play on various toddler equipment. Funny story: There is a trampoline with a bar to hold on to. The first day of class Kassidy really like it. Wanted to keep jumping, and was actually quite good for a first timer. The next day, Saturday, we put her down for her nap, and Bill and I are sitting in the living room (Kassidy's room is right above us). We here her up there talking, and then we hear her jumping!!! She was standing, holding onto the side of her crip and jumping like on the trampoline! Ug...she is crazy. She doesn't do it anymore, it was just so funny to her the crib shaking around up there and her gibber-gabbering to herself. Who knew an 18-month old would have this much personality??? That wasn't in the manual!!!Comments:Add a comment:
