Krazy Kelly Kids

September 2004

Kassidy had her first portrait session today at Sears. I had a feeling she would not be the pleasant bundle I've grown to enjoy, and I could not have been more correct. We had planned to have her in a pumpkin that I had hollowed out, but no such luck. She fought tooth and nail not to have to sit in that sucker. You can see from the picture in the new album that she is sitting in front of it. The pictures of her in her baptism gown are very sweet though. All in all, her first time wasn't to terrible. What can I expect from a 2 month old??!!

Woo Hoo!!! It's not through the night, but Kassidy slept for 5 hours last night!! It was wonderful, I have to tell you, since I grew a brain, and layed down when she went down for the "Big Sleep". She went to sleep around 9:45pm and I woke up at 2:45am soaking wet because she had slept through a feeding. She woke up about 10 minutes later though, thank goodness, because I was about ready to pop.

We are in Pittsburgh for the rest of this week because Bill is in Crash #2 school in Columbus, and as much as I adore my lovely child, I couldn't handle 2 weeks alone with her. I know I missed posting her 2 month picture on her "Birthday", but I will post one first thing Sunday when we get back.

Kassidy has started to make some new noises. Mostly high piched squeals to go along with her coos and sighs. It's so nice to hear something besides screaming and crying. She's started to smile first thing in the morning. When we're laying in bed and it's time to get up I'll say "Hello there" or "Good Morning" and she gives me the biggest smile her little mouth can make. It's priceless. Of course, everytime I jump for the camera she puts her puss face back on. Put it away and she's all smiles. That Kid!!!

Kassidy has also lived through her first historic event. Pittsburgh suffered major damage on Friday, September 18th due to massive flooding. She and I were stuck at Aunt Peggi's until 10pm due to roads being closed and no way in or out of Crafton. The "Flood of '04" destroyed the church my mom goes to in the town of Carnegie, which is also where my grandparents live, the town of Oakdale, which is where Rose grew up, and many many more areas close to home. Luckily, no family was injured or lost anything substantial. If she ever learns about it in school, she can say, "Hey, I was there!"

Well, it's time for tonight's "Big Sleep". Maybe she can sleep for six hours!

Kassidy let us go out and eat!! In a restaurant. It was so nice to be in the real world again. Of course, she slept until half way through my food, but I cut up the chicken into little pieces before she really started to wail so I could eat with ease while she did as well. Maybe one day I really will be able to be away from home for more than 2 hours, and I won't have to be silently praying that she will just stay asleep or content for just a few more minutes. Baby Steps!

Kassidy had her 2 month check up today. I can't believe it's been nearly 2 whole months since we brought the munchkin home! My, this girl is a good eater!! She is 12lbs 2 oz; 22 in. and in the 75% for her age group. I can't even remember how tiny she was until I look at the pictures!

As I'm sure you can tell from the front page, Miss Kassidy has taken a liking to smiling on her own now, and thinks Mommy, Daddy, and her mobile are the funniest things in the world. There is more cooing, and some breathy laughing. I can lay in bed at night, and hear her while she kicks and gurgles at the hanging bunnies. Then out of no where she starts cracking herself up. It's amazing that in 2 months she's learned "Funny" even if she doesn't understand it yet.

She is also a morning person...much to my dismay! Usually up by 7, she's ready to go for a good 2 maybe even 3 hours before she's ready for her mid-morning nap. She likes voices, books, and even Sesame Street in small doses, and she loves our morning sing-a-long of "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" while she's being changed. She likes to dance, and walk around in the baby carrier.

She's a real person! They told us, but we didn't believe them. Everyday she's getting closer to being even more of a person, more of a challenge, and more fun. I can't wait, but I'll miss the baby!
