For the past 3 nights Kassidy has fallen asleep on her own. The typical routine was bath, nurse, sleep. While I still nurse her after her bath...it seems to be turning into more of a wind-down for her rather than a sedative. She's getting droopy eyed while nursing, but not falling asleep. So, I've started rocking her after about 15 minutes of nursing, and than I'll lay her down in her crib. She's still a little fussy when I do put her down, but she is usually asleep within 10 minutes. Lord love the child that falls asleep on her own!
Kassidy has found two new body parts. Her feet, and her tongue. Changing has become an olympic event, trying to manuver around baby appendages to fasten her diaper, and then wrangle her legs to get them back into her sleeper. The Russian judge gave me a 6.
The tongue...well this is a fun one. Kassidy will get this intense look on her face, like she is trying so hard to get the words out, and then she'll make this wet buzzing sound, "Brvrvrbrvah"
Then when I answer her, she looks so relieved, because I understand, and she continues buzzing and laughing and chewing on whatever is within reach. The produce section on my shopping list was slobbered on today before I realized she had grabbed hold of it while in her Snugli and proceeded to have a munch. You can see from the new pictures that her tongue is in just about every shot. Her cheeks and chin are paying for the drool, but she's still so darn cute!

Happy December all! It's sad to say, but now that I'm getting more accustomed to everyday motherhood, I'm not taking as many pictures as I should. I'll try to be better.
Kassidy is doing very well. She is such a happy baby (most of the time). She is laughing much more now, and actually like to play a little rough. She would rather I tickle her and kiss her neck, than read or play with a rattle. She loves to be bounced on our laps, or on the bed. It's a good time for all. Solid food is slowly creeping into our day. She's been on rice cereal at night for a few weeks now, and I'm trying veggies. She took pretty well to the green beans, and we started carrots today with no complaints. I've been giving her water in a sippy cup, just to get her used to it. She doesn't drink from it really, just gums the spout, but she will hold it, and her aim is getting much better. The spout makes it into her mouth about 40% of the time.
Sleeping has become pretty predictable. Most nights, Kassidy is asleep by 8:45, and is down until around 1:30. Than, back to sleep until 5:30 up again at 7, usually back down and our day starts around 9. Its nice to have a routine that's pretty solid.
Kassidy has taken to touching everything. She's especially interested in what is in Mommy's hand. It could be the phone, a glass, an apple. Whatever it is, she wants it, and if she gets it, it will be in her mouth. She's been chewing on the rims of our glasses. If Bill or I is holding her and we drink from a glass, she reaches for it, and puts any part in you'll let her. It's pretty cute. She's also discovering the dog. Casey still isn't sure how she feels about the little one, but she is very gentle and responsive when we hold the baby near her. The problem is keeping Casey's tail out of Kassidy's grip/mouth. Good Times!!!
Kassidy is also a full fledged back-to-front roller. If she's laying on her back she doesn't stay that way for long, and usually is unhappy with the result of her rolling. Apparently the belly is not the position of choice for our girl...then again neither is her back. No, she's happier upright, and prefers to be propped up so she can see all of the world, not just the top and bottom of it. However, since she still lacks mobility, she become unhappy just sitting. So a walking/bouncing/swinging we will go. I'm predicting sitting on her own by early-to-mid January. She's getting better at steadying herself when I'm behind her. Shouldn't be long now. My how the time flys!!!Comments:Add a comment:
